Types of
rescue pets

Rescue pets are not just your typical cat and dog, there are many different animals out there looking for a loving home.

You might be starting your search for a new pet with a certain type, breed, or age in mind. However, your perfect match might not be the pet you think

If you live a busier lifestyle, an older, more settled dog or cat may be a far better fit than a young, energetic puppy. If it’s your first family pet, a smaller animal such as a guinea pig or chickens may be a suitable option and a great introduction to the responsibility of pet ownership. If you live in the country with a large block of land, you might consider adopting a pet that needs this kind of environment, such as a goat or cow, that not everyone can accommodate to.

According to Companion Animals NZ, 64% of New Zealand households own a pet, with the most popular pets being cats, dogs and fish.
